Accelerating the transition towards Affordable & Green industrial heat

About Saltes

How it all started

Our story

In our precursor, Brabetech, we stood at the cradle of the development, from lab to pilot system, of a new ternary molten salt as heat transfer and storage medium.

We build on 10 years of applied research at Brabetech, where our journey began with the practical validation of a new ternary molten salt to produce 250 kW of steam. This salt was especially engineered to overcome the limitations of traditional molten salts. Over the years, we developed and tested our technology for storing and transferring heat across multiple pilot systems commissioned worldwide, in collaboration with leading research institutes such as TNO and DLR. These efforts validated and de-risked the technology. In 2023, this work culminated in the launch of the ThermalPod®—a molten salt-based system for industrial electrification and energy storage. With the design now market-ready, Saltes was born to bring this innovation to industry at scale.

Our vision

Our Vision

The future of industrial heat is electric and flexible. Electrification of heat can lead to reduced costs and increased energy independence of industry.

The vast majority of industrial heat is generated using fossil fuels, but these energy sources must be replaced with renewable technologies like solar, wind, and solar thermal. Advances in renewable energy will provide cheap, abundant energy during certain times of the day, but new solutions are needed to store and transfer this energy to align with production schedules. Molten salt systems are a key part of the solution, enabling factories to use local renewable energy for production. By integrating these systems, industries can become energy independent, reducing reliance on fossil fuels while powering the production of the products we use daily, from food and clothing to chemicals.
